Author Interview

What prompted you to write your first book?

I never liked reading as a kid or a young adult. I picked up the Fifty Shades books from Costco and it exploded! I was one clicking every contemporary romance book after reading them. Soon the idea popped in my head. I’ve always liked telling stories and thinking up stories in my head. Now I have an outlet to put my imaginations voice down on paper.

Is there anything or anyone in particular that you draw inspiration from?

There is always a little piece of me in my books. Honestly my characters tell me what to write.

Which story has been your favorite to write?

So far my last book A Fighting Chance has been one that I had to dig a little deeper in and it came out amazing!

Is there a book concept you’re just dying to write?

I have a few that I’ve outlined that I’ll write once I’m done with The Running Into Love Series, but I’m not sharing just yet J

Which character of yours, is your favorite?

So far Max from A Fighting Chance. But I say that about each book I write! Whoever I’m writing is my favorite!

Do you have a favorite book?

That’s a hard question. I think I’d have to stick with the Fifty Shades series. Not only do I love the books, but it started it all for me as far as becoming an author and being published.

Who is your favorite Disney character?

Cinderella

Do you have a method to your writing process? Outlining, etc.

Typically I have an outline. I write down everything on bound index cards. If I come up with a new scene (which happens all the time) I just open the ring and plop it in. The book I’m writing right now the fifth book in the Running Into Love Series Unavoidable Chance has been by the seat of my pants.

Have you ever gone back to book you’ve published and wished you could have changed the ending or some other major aspect of the story?

For a long time I wanted to go and take the epilogue out of the first book Take A Chance. I got a lot of flak for it. You either loved it or you hated it. But honestly I’m not sure if people took it like I meant. I show the MC females funeral. But my intention was to show everyone that she died at a very old age and had an extremely loved life. It’s written in the voice of her three children. In the books that follow you get to experience them being born as I continue to pick up past characters in each book. But In the end I left it. The amount of people who said they loved it made me leave it.

What is the one piece of advice you’d give to new writers?

Get in a support group! Surround yourself with positive, helpful, wonderful fellow authors who can answer your questions and help you. No one should have to go it alone. There a TON’s of fabulous authors who have been in your shoes and are eager to help!

About Annalisa Nicole

I am an “Indie” contemporary romance author. I live in California with my husband and two teenage boys. I love being a stay at home mom.
I never liked reading as a kid. I only started reading romance novels in the past few years. My Kindle and I are inseparable now. A thought occurred to me in December of 2012 that maybe I could write a romance novel. So I went to work with the encouragement of my husband and my sister-in-law. It didn't take long to figure out that I really enjoyed writing.  Today I am a self-published author and it has been an amazing journey!
